Harvey Sender is a member and shareholder of Sender & Wasserman, P.C.. For more than 32 years, Harvey has practiced in the areas of complex bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation.


Since 1977, Harvey's practice in complex bankruptcy and bankruptcy litigation has been extensive, with wide involvement in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13 and Trustee issues. He has represented numerous debtors-In-possession in Chapter 11. He has also represented major creditors and unsecured creditors committees in both bankruptcy issues and complex commercial litigation. He has been qualified as an expert before various courts in the areas of bankruptcy law and reasonableness of attorneys fees.


As a Chapter 7 Trustee, Harvey has administered over 25,000 cases. Since 1984 he has served as Panel Trustee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee Panel. He has also served as a Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 Trustee in numerous large bankruptcy cases, including Hedged Investments, USA Capital and Intercap Funds Joint Venture, et al.


He also has an extensive background in mechanic's lien disputes and construction issues. He has represented design professionals in disputes over negligent construction and design, principally in the areas of engineering, survey, and architecture. He has also represented material suppliers in mechanic's lien disputes and disputes over the quality of the material delivered to the project.


Harvey is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy law and practice. He belongs to the Denver Bar Association (Member, Availability of Legal Services Committee, 1980-1982), Colorado Bar Association (Member, Corporation, Banking and Business Law Section), the State Bar of New Mexico, and the Commercial Law League of America (Member, Bankruptcy and Creditors Rights Subsections). He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees (Bankruptcy Trustee, 1984 - present). Harvey has been one of Colorado's Super Lawyers several times over the years.


After 13 years at the helm of Harvey Sender & Associates, P.C. in Denver, Harvey merged his practice with John Wasserman, establishing, first, Katch Sender & Wasserman, P.C. and then, Sender & Wasserman, P.C. Prior to heading his own practice, Harvey was associated with Sobol & Sobol, P.C. of Denver, and served with Northern New Mexico Legal Services in Santa Fe.


Born in 1950 in Boston, Massachusetts, Harvey received his B.A. (Cum Laude) from New York University in 1972 and his J.D. from Georgetown University in 1975. He has been married since 1980 and has two children.

First of all, I have a substantial amount of practical experience in complex bankruptcy law. It is rare to encounter a bankruptcy problem that I have not already seen and solved before. Second, I strive to listen to my clients and fully understand the issues of each particular case. From that point on, my goals are, first, to have my client understand the issues, and second, for us to work together to arrive at a practical and cost-effective solution.
