Attorney Q & A
What Attracts You to These Areas of the Law?
I enjoy the difficult nature of creditor-debtor representation which provides an exposure to a diverse range of industries. In many cases, the same problem persists, namely a dispute over the failure to pay for goods and services that have been provided. Similarly, homeowners' association representation is a vastly under-represented field from the standpoint of individual homeowners. I find it satisfying to assist individuals and homeowners who are up against frequently more powerful and well-financed associations. In landlord-tenant cases, I typically represent landlords who depend on federally- subsidized housing, which has its own very specific and interesting body of law over and above state law.

What Is Your Approach to Practicing Law?
I try to take an approach that will lead to an expeditious resolution of the client's problem in an economical manner. I try to fully explore every possibility of settlement and dispute resolution. I view trial only as a very last resort.

What Is Your Unique Contribution to Your Practice?
I am able to understand different businesses, their practices and their finances for the purposes of analyzing the case and translating that into an effective resolution of the client's legal problem.

Why Do You Like Living and Working in Colorado?
The diverse recreational opportunities in all four seasons (e.g., golf, skiing, bicycling, hiking) make Colorado ideal as a place to raise a family and as a continued place of residence.
